About the ICR Group Dr. M.L. Dhawale

More than two centuries ago, Samuel Hahnemann had a vision. From that vision was born the Science of Homeopathy.

Homeopathy, the science founded on natural Laws and Principles, soon gained wide acceptance as a system of medicine, thanks to its humane approach to the problem of human disease.

Two centuries later, across the seas, a youth in his 20s took a momentous decision to pledge his life to Samuel Hahnemann's vision. The year was 1952. Dr. M.L. Dhawale, after completing his M.D. in Medicine from the University of Bombay , decided to join the Homeopathic practice of his renowned father, Dr. L.D. Dhawale. Thus began an illustrious career, that was to enrich the science of Homeopathy and bring relief and good health to many who were suffering.

In the year 1956, Dr. M.L. Dhawale organised a team of lecturer to conduct the Annual lecture Series of the Monoeopathic Post-Graduate Association. 1967 saw the publication of the world-famous book, 'Principles and Practice of Homeopathy : Part I: Homeopathic Philosophy and Repertorization' by Dr. M.L. Dhawale. In 1968-79, he assumed charge of the erstwhile Bombay Homeopathic Medical College as its Principal. Though his tenure was brief, it brought about many constructive changes in the teaching techniques in the College.

Dr. Dhawale continued to find ways and means of serving the cause of Homeopathy. His efforts crystalised in the formation of the institute of Clinical Research (ICR), which he founded in 1975, and nurtured with his keen analytic facilities, rare compassion and selflessness.

On the heels of the ICR, came the Symposium on Hahnemannian Totality, held in Mumbai in 1978. Dr. Dhawale was the moving force behind this conference. ICR meanwhile was functioning actively, and in 1984, the first ICR Conference was organized on 'Education Through Action Learning'. It was attended by a number of leading lights from different professions.

In appreciation of the services rendered by Dr. Dhawale, he was appointed to the Advisory Board of the National Institute of Homeopathy. He made fundamental contributions to the structure of the Institute, and its course of studies. Dr. Dhawale was also an advisor to the Central Council of Research in Homeopathy.

Dr. M.L. Dhawale passed away untimely on January 16, 1987.

Inspired by his vision, the students and patients of Dr. M.L. Dhawale established the Dr. M.L. Dhawale Memorial Trust, a Trust that incorporates the spirit of the I.C.R.

True to the basic tenets of Homeopathic Medical Science, we at the M.L.D. Trust, wish to empower the individual to find resources within himself, to attain his highest state of health. Homeopathy, being the most cost-effective system of medicine, is ideally suited to achieve this task.
